Hello, I’m Rebecca. I’m a short, introverted, stress-case writer. You too?! No way!
I am based in Vancouver, Canada, where I live in a cozy suite with my husband Cody and our two cats. I find it necessary to mention that after researching how to write a decent author bio (stress-case, remember?) I found numerous tips and tricks of things to avoid. Tip number one was not to include_once the fact that you have pets because it makes you seem a little… socially awkward. I say ‘to hell with your pet shaming ideals’! #petsmakeyourelatable Right?
I love crafting stories. I have been doing it since I was old enough to hold a pen (during my research they also recommended not to use cliches like ‘since I could hold a pen’- it feels good to break the rules). My parents, with all their glorious wisdom, decided not to have cable TV in the house. As a child, I hated this. I was jealous of my friends who came home from school to park their butts on their sofas while they watched endless reruns of shows like Buffy and Goosebumps. While they did that, I sat at my desk and wrote in my Hilroy notebooks.
After receiving my first laptop as a Christmas present from my mom and dad, my writing game changed. Since then I have been committed to the art of torturing my characters and throwing them into gut wrenching, terrifying scenarios.
When I’m not writing I spend my time playing with makeup (the obsession is real, folks), perusing Pinterest for home decor ideas that I can’t afford, and organizing my day/week/month/life in my calendar. Stress-case behaviours, I tell you.
Thank you for taking the time to read this bio! If you have any questions or just want to chat, click here or on the contact me page above. I’d love to hear from you!
